Why Pan Aadhar Linking is required?

According to section 139AA of the Income Tax Act, every person who has been allotted a permanent account number (PAN) as of the 1st day of July 2017, and who is eligible to obtain an Aadhaar number, shall intimate his Aadhaar number in the prescribed form and manner. In other words, such persons have to mandatorily link their Aadhaar and PAN before the prescribed date ( 31st March 2023). Can I link my PAN and Aadhaar manually / offline?

Yes, you can. Send an SMS from your mobile registered with Aadhaar to either of the PAN providers (NSDL or UTIITSL) at 567678 or 56161. Use this specific format in your SMS: UIDPAN <12-digit Aadhaar> <10-digit PAN>. Ensure there are spaces between UIDPAN, your Aadhaar number, and your PAN.
