UAN Number: What is the role of UAN No in EPF

UAN Number is one unique universal account number for all multiple EPF Account numbers received at the time of joining to new job or switching to jobs at any establishment in India.

UAN Number means a Universal Account Number allotted under the Employees Provident Fund in India. and UAN No acts as an umbrella for the multiple Members ID allotted to an individual by different establishments. UAN enables the linking of multiple EPF Accounts (Member ID) allotted to a single member. Members can view details of their all EPF Accounts.

  4. Now click on generate OTP and you will receive OTP on your phone.
  5. Just enter that OTP by agreeing to a disclaimer for a share of your basic details as available with Aadhar.

  8. Then you will get your UAN Number and you can activate it online when you get a job and get EPF Account Number.

How to register for a UAN Number?

  1. First of all, Visit the EPF Member Portal.
  2. Then on the portal, Activate the UAN by clicking the “Activate UAN” option.
  3. Provide all required information about your UAN, member ID, mobile number, Aadhaar, PAN, name, date of birth, and e-mail ID.
  4. Then, Click on “Get Authorization PIN” to get the PIN sent to the mobile number
  5. Now enter this PIN to verify your request.
  6. Create a username and password for the UAN portal.

How to activate the UAN Number?

  1. You can Visit the EPFO Website
  2. Go to ‘Our services’ and select ‘For Employees’
  3. Now, navigate to ‘Member UAN/Online Services
  4. On the redirect, you will reach on EPF Member Portal.
  5. Then on the portal, Activate the UAN by clicking the “Activate UAN” option.
  6. Provide all required information about your UAN, member ID, mobile number, Aadhaar, PAN, name, date of birth, and e-mail ID.
  7. Then, Click on “Get Authorization PIN” to get the PIN sent to the mobile number
  8. Now select ‘I Agree’ and enter the OTP sent to the registered mobile number
  9. You will receive the password to access the portal.

If you have forgotten your UAN Number and you are unable to find out then don’t worry. You can retrieve your UAN Number by following these steps

  1. First of all, Visit the EPF Member Portal.
  2. Then on the portal, Just click on the link ‘know your UAN’
  3. Now enter any mobile Number and captcha to request OTP.
  4. After verifying OTP, you will be confirmed by providing information such as name, DOB, and any ID number that you have provided.
  5. After entering all the information, just click on the Share My UAN button.
  6. then your UAN will show just write or copy and use for further facilities.

How to link Aadhar with UAN Number?

There are different ways to link Aadhar with UAN which can be used

You can use the Umang App, biometric credentials on the e-KYC Portal, or OTP verification on the e-KYC Portal of EPFO to link Aadhar. For this just use these steps-

  1. First of all, visit the EPFO website.
  2. Then on-site, in the online services option just click on e-KYC Portal.
  3. Now on the new window, click on the link UAN Aadhaar.
  4. Here just enter UAN and mobile no, generate OTP, and confirm.
  5. Then enter your gender and Aadhaar Number.
  6. and use the Aadhaar verification mode and submit with a captcha.
  7. and then your Aadhar will be linked to UAN.

How to download or print a UAN Card?

  1. First of all, visit the EPF member portal online.
  2. Then login with UAN and password.
  3. After login, go to the View tab then click on UAN CARD.
  4. Now your UAN card will show just download in PDF format.
  5. or get print.

What will happen to UAN in case of a change in job?

  1. When you change the job, you need to give the UAN to the new employer.
  2. The employer links the new PF account to it.
  3. The UAN remains the same throughout the employee’s career.

How does the UAN Number help in transferring the EPF account?

  1. First of all, Check the PF eligibility and ensure all the present and previous employers’ records are presently online at EPFO
  2. Upload the digital signature online
  3. In order to file a transfer online, you have to register yourself on the EPFO portal
  4. After logging into the EPF member portal, select the option to transfer your account
  5. Then Fill in all three parts of the form
  6. Select the attesting authority and member ID/UAN and click on “Get OTP”
  7. An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number. Enter this OTP to continue
  8. Your form will be submitted and you will get a tracking ID

How to check UAN status online?

Why is my UAN KYC pending?

  1. As per the EPF portal, It generally takes 3 to 5 days for the related documents to be viewed and approved.
  2. If your UAN KYC is pending for more than 7-8 days, you can file a complaint or reach the regional EPFO officer through the help desk online

What to do if two UANs get allotted?

  1. In this case, the employee has to inform the EPFO helpdesk immediately.
