A domicile certificate is required to get a local preference in many situations. It is required to avail resident based reservations which are made in educational institutes or government jobs, etc.

Who can apply for a Domicile certificate?
An applicant can apply for a Domicilecertificate if he/she is
- First, An individual who is a citizen of India.
- And an individual who is residing continuously for the last three years within the territorial jurisdiction of NCT of Delhi.
What are the documents required for applying for a Domicile certificate?
This is the list of documents that can be required at the time of applying Domicile certificate online or offline mode
- Identity Proof of Beneficiary ( Any One is mandatory) –or Identity Proof of Parents (in case of Minor)

- The candidate must provide a signed copy of the self-declaration along with the application form.
- One Passport size Coloured Photograph of the Beneficiary(Size 5cm x 4.5cm Or 2”x1.75”)
Notes
- Parents can only apply in case of minor(“minor” as per the provisions of the Indian Majority Act, 1875)
- In the case of a minor, the parent’s Address proof has to be appended. Whereas ID proof has to be of a minor.
- Scanned copy of original Self -Declaration has to be uploaded while applying online and original Self Declaration has to be submitted to the concerned SDM/Tehsildar/CSC by hand or speed post/registered post along with Application /Acknowledgement number.
- The beneficiary himself/herself /any of his family members should be present at the CSC for the photograph or submit his/her photograph. In case of an online application, an applicant must upload the beneficiary photograph (As per specifications above)
- Only educational certificate for all the three consecutive years will not be considered for issuance of Domicile Certificate
How to apply online for a Domicile certificate?
As a citizen of Delhi, you can apply for Domicile Certificate online which service is available on the E-district website by these simple steps of registration online:
- First of all, need to visit the e-district site – https://edistrict.delhigovt.nic.in/
- Then you will register yourself as a new user with the help of your Aadhar card or voter id.
- After registration, you will get a user id and the password just need to change according to you.
- Now you can log in with the help of a user id and password
- Then, you will upload your documents as per required formats and sizes such as Aadhar card, voter id, and photo.
- And then need to complete first your profile by providing all the required information
- Then, you can apply for any required service online just by filling the required service form within the prescribed time and limit.
- Then you can click on the apply button in the menu
- apply online > apply for services and then click on the apply button of Issuance of Domicile Certificate in the Department of Revenue section
- After that, Your profile details will show just check and click on the continue button.
- Now just enter the furthermore required details then click on the continue button.
- After the click, you will have to attach/Upload the supporting documents which I have already shown above in the post.
- Upload the documents in the proper required format or size and click on the Save button after uploading each document.
- At the last, click on the final submit button after checking all information filled in the form. and just verify by OTP received on the registered mobile number.
- And then, you will see the acknowledgment receipt just save it and get a print of it.
How to apply offline for a Domicile Certificate?
You have to visit your area’s revenue department Govt of NCT for getting an application form for a Domicile certificate. After getting the application form, you need to fill it and need to attach the required and supporting documents with the form. And after completion of all documents, you need to submit them to the revenue department with verifying the original documents.
How to check the Domicile Certificate status?
When you have applied for Domicile Certificate on the e-district Delhi portal then you really wish to know the status of your application and like to track the status so here you can track your application status:
- First of all, visit the e- district portal
- Then Track your application link and then click on it
- Then you are to enter required details such as First step select Department then applied for then enter application no and after that enter applicant name and type the security captcha and click on the search button.
